Poppy Cebele King was born in 23rd May 1972 in Melbourn, Autralia. She has a great passion for lipstick. That is the reason why Lipstick Queen comes to this worl. Before that, at the age of eighteen, she started her own cosmetics company in 1991 with the brand name “Poppy”. The main office is located in Melbourne, Autraulia.
The major product of Poppy Industries is a wide colour range of opaque lipsticks. Within three years of operation, her company had grown to be one of the biggest cosmetic companies in Australia. In 1995, Poppy King received the Young Australian of the Year award and in that year her company made a great profit up to $6.5 million. In 1998, her company was disolved because of the unprofitableness. Poppy did not give up here, she tried the best to rescue her reputation and lipstick passion from oblivion by taking a different approach.
Finally, King managed to launch a second cult lipstick range called “Lipstick Queen”, which born in 2006 and now it is still going strong! Poppy currently lives in New York. She wrote a book named “Lessons of a Lipstick Queen”, published by Atria Books in August 2008. She also has campaigned for the Australian Republican Movement.
In an interview Poppy did with The Formula, she had a quote that we really love. She said: “Lipstick isn’t something that makes you look old or requires a full face of makeup.
