CONFUSED ABOUT KOREAN SKINCARE ROUTINE DAY AND NIGHT?
I am not sure how many of you reading are familiar with a Korean skincare routine day and night. First of all, this term is slightly confusing. It’s definitely not true that all Korean women adhere to the ideas this phrase suggests- the same, complicated, million-step routine religiously followed by all. Of the women I have met in Korea, there has been a huge variety in their approaches to beauty.
Having said that, korean skincare routine day and night seems that caring for oneself, and in particular the skin, is ingrained in many Koreans from a young age. I don’t claim to be an expert on Korean culture by any means, but I have come to this conclusion through my observations with this.
These observations include the very thorough washing routines that occur in there, the visibility of skincare everywhere I seem to go, the wide range of skincare steps companies produce, as well as frequent comments from my kindergartners on skincare topics such as the need for sun screen. I have clearly not explored skincare in every corner of the world, but skincare here in Korea appears to be pretty unique.
As far as I can see, skincare holds an importance in Korea that I never saw at my home. And I like it- a lot. Whilst many people complain that the stores simply create all of these steps as a profitable scheme, in my opinion having so much available makes it great for tailoring a routine.
I feel very in control of what’s going on my face, and like the flexibility. So surprised that The huge range of products on offer and the competitiveness of a market always strive to find new ingredients and win formulas. I am also an anxious person, and my skincare routine has definitely become a way for me to relax and unwind.
A Korean skincare routine day and night can be tailored to suit your time, budget, lifestyle and skincare needs, and doesn’t require Korean products. My routine is based on the many different steps that I learned about here in Korea, and I do mainly use Korean products. Just doing, trying and explaining for yourself. Here we go!
Korean Skincare Routine Day
In the morning skincare routine, I do try to maintain the steps and not change products too often. It does get difficult when I’m in shopaholic mode and buy things I shouldn’t- I definitely have more moisturisers than the average person needs. Morning skincare routine is always as simple as I can. I noticed the less products on my face, the less oily it gets throughout the day. I wanted to share how I typically go through my morning skincare routine. After I finish brushing my teeth, I go straight into cleansing my face.
Using the NEOGEN green tea cleanser, I push the pump half way to obtain the foam product into my hands. I lather the product in my hands before massaging it gently onto my face. Just massage my face in a particular pattern. I start massaging my chin for 10 seconds, moving my fingers up to my check – another 10 seconds, move fingers to my nose – another 10 seconds, and lastly my forehead region for 10 seconds.
I repeat this 3 times. Afterwards, I use lukewarm water to rinse. Once most of the foam has been rinse off, I pat my face gently with the excess water until my face is slightly damp.

Within the 3 second rule before my face is completely dry, I grab a cotton pad and place maybe 5 drops of my favorite low ph Laneige toner. I swipe the soaked cotton pad gently upwards on my chin, cheeks, nose, forehead, and any excess on my neck as well.
Leave it for a few seconds to let the toner dry before moving onto the next step. Then, I used to be very hesitant about using any kind of toner due to majority of the US toner have alcohol in it. Many asian skincare toners do not contain alcohol but still very effective in removing residue on your skin. The toner step is pretty important as you do not want to have any lingering residue on your skin as it can stimulate oil production therefore clog up your pores and result in acne or breakouts.
Furthermore, Rose, or rosewater, is one of the most amazing ingredients that you can include in your skin care routine. The reason why this is called steam cream as it was blended using high temperature and steam technology which it is suppose to increase the efficiency of the formula. Neat!
Forget freaks and vampires: When it comes to beauty rituals, it’s our inner princesses who come out at night. It’s then that we languidly soak in tubs of skin-nourishing oils and mind-quieting aromatics and casually delve. The mornings, on the other hand?
