Best Korean Skincare Routine Day and Night: Easier Than Ever!

In fact, Asian women believe that natural beauty is all about achieving a healthy radiance from within. It’s a bit more extensive than what you’re probably used to and while it may take a little longer, the results are worth it after all.

Please note you can customise your routine by adding or removing products as you see fit. You can use them in any order or time which is suitable for you. But just prepare to achieve the tips with just a few steps to gain a huge result from this article.

I am not sure how many of you reading are familiar with a Korean skincare routine day and night. First of all, this term is slightly confusing. It’s definitely not true that all Korean women adhere to the ideas this phrase suggests- the same, complicated, million-step routine religiously followed by all. Of the women I have met in Korea, there has been a huge variety in their approaches to beauty.

Having said that, korean skincare routine day and night seems that caring for oneself, and in particular the skin, is ingrained in many Koreans from a young age. I don’t claim to be an expert on Korean culture by any means, but I have come to this conclusion through my observations with this.

These observations include the very thorough washing routines that occur in there, the visibility of skincare everywhere I seem to go, the wide range of skincare steps companies produce, as well as frequent comments from my kindergartners on skincare topics such as the need for sun screen. I have clearly not explored skincare in every corner of the world, but skincare here in Korea appears to be pretty unique.

Cosmetics are the best thing to treat yourself

As far as I can see, skincare holds an importance in Korea that I never saw at my home. And I like it- a lot. Whilst many people complain that the stores simply create all of these steps as a profitable scheme, in my opinion having so much available makes it great for tailoring a routine.

I feel very in control of what’s going on my face, and like the flexibility. So surprised that The huge range of products on offer and the competitiveness of a market always strive to find new ingredients and win formulas. I am also an anxious person, and my skincare routine has definitely become a way for me to relax and unwind.

A Korean skincare routine day and night can be tailored to suit your time, budget, lifestyle and skincare needs, and doesn’t require Korean products.  My routine is based on the many different steps that I learned about here in Korea, and I do mainly use Korean products. Just doing, trying and explaining for yourself. Here we go!

Korean Skincare Routine Day

In the morning skincare routine, I do try to maintain the steps and not change products too often. It does get difficult when I’m in shopaholic mode and buy things I shouldn’t- I definitely have more moisturisers than the average person needs. Morning skincare routine is always as simple as I can. I noticed the less products on my face, the less oily it gets throughout the day. I wanted to share how I typically go through my morning skincare routine. After I finish brushing my teeth, I go straight into cleansing my face.

 1. Cleanser

Using the NEOGEN green tea cleanser, I push the pump half way to obtain the foam product into my hands. I lather the product in my hands before massaging it gently onto my face. Just massage my face in a particular pattern. I start massaging my chin for 10 seconds, moving my fingers up to my check – another 10 seconds, move fingers to my nose – another 10 seconds, and lastly my forehead region for 10 seconds.

I repeat this 3 times. Afterwards, I use lukewarm water to rinse. Once most of the foam has been rinse off, I pat my face gently with the excess water until my face is slightly damp.

2. Toner

I used to try many types of toner from different brands but the most effective things as my experience is

Innisfree volcanic pore toner, alcohol Free, paraben Free, no Cruelty, eco-friendly. You can buy it in Koreanstyle.

Within the 3 second rule before my face is completely dry, I grab a cotton pad and place maybe 5 drops of my favorite low ph Laneige toner. I swipe the soaked cotton pad gently upwards on my chin, cheeks, nose, forehead, and any excess on my neck as well.

Leave it for a few seconds to let the toner dry before moving onto the next step. Then, I used to be very hesitant about using any kind of toner due to majority of the US toner have alcohol in it. Many asian skincare toners do not contain alcohol but still very effective in removing residue on your skin. The toner step is pretty important as you do not want to have any lingering residue on your skin as it can stimulate oil production therefore clog up your pores and result in acne or breakouts.

Furthermore, Rose, or rosewater, is one of the most amazing ingredients that you can include in your skin care routine. I also appreciate Thayers Rose Petal Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Formula Toner. will make your skin bloom. Thayers remarkably soothing Rose Toner is made with rose-petal water and proprietary Witch Hazel extract.

3. Essence

Essences are less concentrated then serums. Their main purpose is to moisturise the skin, to stimulate cells renewal, improve skin texture and make the most out of the products that follow. Apply a few drops of essence and gently spread over the skin. Laneige water bank essence is known as the product which is highly recommended by almost people including oily skin to combination skin. I used it and of course my skin get smoother and get better much more than I have expected.

Besides, youngsters as beauty bloggers also choose Missha time revolution essence from

I directly pump this product onto my face, one pump for each cheek. I gently massage the product and spread a thin layer all over my face. At the very end, I gently pat the essence on my face. I let the essence dry for a couple minutes before moving onto the next step.

Essence is in a sense a more lightweight and less concentrated than serums. This essence contains 96% snail secretion filtrate for skin repair and hydration. This essence is also not heavy at all for my oily skin. In Korean skincare routine day and night, everyone should remember this step as a key for skin treatment.

4. Spot Treatment

As the key ingredient contains Guaiazulene and Centella Asiatica Extract. Guaiazulene is a calming and skin repairing and Centella Asiatica helps in skin regeneration, scar prevention, and pigmentation. I use a [Missha] Time Revolution Night Repair New Science Activator Ampo

to apply small amounts to any trouble areas on my skin such as active pimples, redness, inflamed or stressed skin areas. This has been my go-to for spot treatment because not only do I see immediate reduction in inflammation but also helps prevent acne scars. As soon I am done applying my spot treatment cream, I apply my eye cream at the same time.

5. Lotion

In guideline of Korean skincare routine day and night, never forget this step! This past fall/winter I have been using this cream in the morning to prevent any winter crisp dryness. I personally use maybe a medium pea-sized onto my ring finger and dot it on my face from both cheeks, forehead, and chin. Then, I gently massage and smooth the product all over my skin for a thin layer. I always use

CLINIQUE Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 20

This product contains 64% snail mucin to help hydrate my skin through the day and as for the bee venom is to promote skin healing and collagen production. The reason why this is called steam cream as it was blended using high temperature and steam technology which it is suppose to increase the efficiency of the formula. Neat!

6. Sunscreen

Forget freaks and vampires: When it comes to beauty rituals, it’s our inner princesses who come out at night.  It’s then that we languidly soak in tubs of skin-nourishing oils and mind-quieting aromatics and casually delve. The mornings, on the other hand? Well, in that our hour of groggy discontent, count us lucky if we can brush our teeth before getting out the door in time.

While most of us know that, as a minimum, we should slap some SPF on our skin before heading out into the day, fewer of us are keyed into the idea that other airborne nanoparticles (like smog, cigarette smoke, soot, pollen, water droplets, and pollutants) contribute to aging skin. Research has shown that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) cling to these airborne nanoparticles, where they are converted to quinones — which can age the skin in the same ways that chronic exposure to UV light can. And, those who live in cities are more exposed to PAH. It’s a lot to consider — especially before coffee.
As a last step I apply one of my favorite [ Cleia ] CLEIA Multi-Protection Sun Cream. I have went through several bottles of Biore Watery Essence Sunscreen and decided to give the rose fragrance a try. Personally, there’s is no difference in the product itself to the original, the scent of rose is not too strong. It dries quickly, does not cause any breakouts or irritation to my skin. Actually you can see the brand Dr. Jart UV Screen Broad Spectrum (25$, in many articles in recent days. It’s now the hot trend of many beauty blogger and the young around the world. This is probably one of my favorite steps ever since I switched over to korean sunscreen, it is just a pleasure to apply a sunscreen that doesn’t feel sticky, greasy, and does not smell horrible.

Korean Skincare Routine Night

KOREAN SKINCARE ROUTINE DAY AND NIGHT are seen as the same but especially with the night, it is exactly the same as the morning except from the first step. Before washing your face, it is recommended that you use an Oil based cleanser to remove makeup, SPF and other impurities. This allows for effortless cleansing rather than tugging at your skin to remove that last bit of mascara. Shake well before using. Use a cotton pad with the remover. Apply to the desired area and hold for several seconds, then wipe. All cleansed!

1. Oil Cleanser

How much time do you spend putting on your makeup? 10, 15, 20 minutes? If you spend all this time applying cosmetics to your skin, you need to spend this time taking it all off again.

Not removing makeup and sleeping in it are some of the most common cases of breakouts and skin problems. Ensuring you cleanse your skin properly will mean that you have a brighter and perfected complexion.

Choosing a cleanser to suit your skin type is essential. This will not only remove your makeup, but keep your skin’s natural PH balanced as it soothes.

  • Oil-based cleansers attract impurities, dirt and yes, excess oil from your skin to leave it incredibly clean. These are great to use as your first step if you love double cleansing too.
  • Cream-based cleansers are brilliant to use if you have sensitive skin. They contain very nourishing and soothing ingredients that work to gently remove makeup without causing irritation.
  • Clay based cleansers are great if you have congested skin that needs extra care. It helps to purify the complexion and minimise breakouts and irritation on the skin.

The Banilaco Clean Zero is one of our favourites as it’s super gentle on the skin, but packs a punch when it comes to leaving it clean. It contains a blend of Vitamin E and Fatty Acids to condition the complexion and help keep it moisturised.

Additional products that you can add to your Korean skincare routine. Use 2-3 times a week:

2. Mask

Sheet masks have become very popular in the world, but they are an essential step in a Korean skincare routine. They’re brilliant to use when you need a quick boost of hydration, or radiance. Plus, because they come in a handy sheet form, there is no mess left behind.

There are so many different types of sheet masks, so it’s best to choose one based on the condition of your skin. If you feel like you have a dulling complexion, choose a brightening mask. If you feel your skin is dry, choose one that has softening properties.

One of our favourite all-rounder masks has to be the Innisfree real sheet mask. It contains many types for different methods for skins.
