How to trim nose hair the right way which we don’t know

Nose hair or nasal hair, is the hair in the nose (you don’t say??). As defined on Wikipedia, adult humans have hair in the interior nasal passage. Nasal hair functions include filtering foreign particles from entering the nasal cavity and collecting moisture.

Have you ever wondered what is these tiny hair for?

What’s the purpose of nose hair? Why do we have it? Is it a useless part of our body or it has some rule? Nose hair is not useless. It has a biological purpose. Nose hair contributes to your well-being in several ways. Your nose hair, as well as other hair on your body, create a tough but flexible barrier. The hair care website Keratin.com states that nasal hair protects the epidermal layer of your skin from small abrasions and sunlight. Nose hair also creates a shield between your body’s internal organs and the pollutants of the outside world. Nose hairs filter away most debris when you inhale. If there wasn’t been for those tiny hair, you can potentially take in small nasty particles along with oxygen.

So, the denser the better?

It can be an advantage if you have dense nasal hair. Scientists at Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Turkey have found that patients with little nose hairs were nearly three times as likely to suffer from asthma as those with more-hirsute nostrils. However, if your nose hair is too dense and too long, it may be a problem. Who can be confident with the tiny hair waving from their nose?

How to get rid of some nose hair?

Plucking nose hair seem to be the fastest and easiest way even though it hurts. However, you should never do this as it’s more dangerous than you thought. Your nose hair is in the “triangle of death“. It’s the triangle between your nose and mouth. If you go digging in your nose and try to pull that hair out, you get a little blood lost in there. Consequently, blood allows the bacteria in your nose to grow. Because veins in the facial area lack protective valves, the bacteria could theoretically enter your bloodstream and lead to infections elsewhere in the body. Therefore, never pluck your nose hair. Go for other methods.

Trim it with scissors:

  • Find a pair of scissors that have a small tip to fit your nostrils. Avoid using shared scissors.
  • Don’t trim your nose when you’re not feeling very well. Make sure that your nose is clean and dry.
  • Trim your nose hair in front of a well-lit mirror. The light needs to be enough for you to see inside your nostrils.
  • Find a place to dispose of the hairs that you snip. It can be a sink, a waste bin, or a disposable towel
  • Only trim the long naughty ones that like to wave from your nose, not all of your nose hair. Removing nose hair completely has negative side effects.
  • Clean your nostril with a tissue, a sanitary wipe, or a nasal spray. Clean up the sink, the counter, or the floor also. Don’t forget to wipe the scissors with antiseptic or at least wash them with soap and water.

Use nose hair trimmer:

This is a more expensive option than using scissors. But it’s the quickest and the safest for you. You can go for either electric trimmers or manual trimmers. Electric trimmers are quicker and more efficient, but manual trimmers don’t need electricity to work. Moreover, electric trimmers may tickle your nose a bit as the vibrating electric models.

You can find a nose hair trimmer at a pharmacy or department store for less than $20 USD. Some trimmers even come with attachments that help you shave eyebrows, beards, and other facial hair.

The rest of the instructions is like using a pair of scissors:

Nose hair seems to be useless and plucking it maybe considered mere trifle. But it actually has a vital purpose. People invented tools for picking nasal hair, which means it is not something you should take for granted. Use the safe way for the sake of our health.
